Shirt and Social Event
I would like to thank all the artists that submitted their designs to our t-shirt contest. I'm sure I speak for the rest of APASU when I say that we all appreciate the time and effort spend on producing these top quality designs. Who knew we have such talented designers in APASU; we'll be sure to continue having design contests in the future.

We would also like to thank all of you for submitting awesome ideas for an upcoming social event. The executive board had a lot of fun reading all of them.
In light of the tie between Speed Friending (speed dating without the dating) and Dinner/Potluck, we decided to be incredibly creative and have dinner together after Speed Friending; genius, right? The restaurant we'll be attending is still undecided, so feel free to give us suggestions, preferably somewhere near campus.
The date we have set for this great event will be Friday, March 5th at 5:30pm. I hope you all can make it.
FREE Stuff in the Office
Last Friday we cleaned out the office, and there are a couple of items up for grabs. The items are in the office in a box marked "free," they include:
- Old school TV (still works)
- Binders
- Dividers
- Folders
- Fall Reception posters (they make great room decorations)
- Yoyos
So, pick some of the box stuff up, otherwise they'll be thrown away.

Born in the city of Mindanao, Philippines, Rogue Pinay represents the struggles of the global south. Based in Seattle, Washington, her work focuses on the conditions of Filipinas, gender and class oppression.

T-Shirt Design Contest Deadline Extended
We've decided to extend the t-shirt design contest to Sunday, February 7th. This will give y'all the weekend to work on a design, if you haven't had the chance to come up with something yet. Please e-mail your design to apasu@uoregon.edu with "shirt design" in the subject line.
Guidelines:
- A maximum of two different print colors
- "APASU" or "Asian Pacific American Student Union" must be included
- "2010" must be included
- Must have a design on EITHER the front or back

Ping Pong Playa Trailer
We'll be watching Ping Pong Playa on Friday at 6:00 in the MCC. Ice cream will be provided, so bring your own toppings, root beer, etc.

APASU’s Literary Magazine: Off Yello
Just wanted to remind you about Off Yello. The deadline for submissions has been extended to February 17, 2009 (Wednesday of week seven if you're still in school).
If you forgot, the theme for the winter 2010 issue is stories. I'm looking for stories that you feel make you who you are. What were the stories your family told you when you were little? What were the folk tales you heard? What about experiences you remember that have taught you something or otherwise make you the person you are today? What about stories from the places you are from? These are just ideas I had, any other ideas about stories will be awesome, too!
Send submissions and/or questions to meijiun@uoregon.edu with "Off Yello sub (or question)" as the subject. Be sure to include your name and the title of the piece. (If you submit art and/or photography, please include a couple sentences about the piece and its story.)

New Website; New Blog!
Last year, our staff was able to procure some money from the ASUO senate to maintain an external site, so now, University of Oregon's Asian Pacific American Student Union (APASU) now has a website of their own! Yay!
The first priority of this site is be to keep APASU members updated with current news and events related to APASU, but the ultimate goal is be to create an online community that reflects the community that is created by APASU on the UO campus. Let's see what happens!
